- ARTISOFT'S LANTASTIC(r) FOR WINDOWS(r) NETWORK UTILITY NOW SHIPPING
-
- Features Icons, Pull-Down Menus and DDE for LANtastic Local Area
- Network
-
- (TUCSON, Ariz. -- September 30, 1991) -- Artisoft announced
- today that it has begun shipping its new LANtastic for Windows
- network utility which allows the LANtastic network to be run
- totally from within Microsoft(r) Windows(tm) 3.0. Priced at $299
- per network, it requires LANtastic(r) NOS 4.0 or higher (sold
- separately) to operate.
-
- "LANtastic(r) for Windows(tm) was designed for those LANtastic
- users who prefer the Windows interface and operating environment,"
- said Jack Schoof, Artisoft President and CEO.
-
- The LANtastic(r) for Windows(tm) network utility offers the
- same features as the DOS-version's NET and NET_MGR programs, but
- within the easy, graphical user interface of Microsoft Windows'
- pull-down menus, icons and on-line help. It also supports Dynamic
- Data Exchange (DDE) so that Windows applications can use LANtastic
- e-mail to exchange messages and transfer data. For example, with
- DDE, a user can create an Excel spreadsheet and send it to a remote
- user who will then be able to double-click on the file to open it
- in the application in which it was originally created.
-
- Artisoft develops and manufactures a full line of hardware and
- software for local area networks including the LANtastic Local Area
- Network. The LANtastic network is a peer-to-peer network that
- allows users of IBM-compatible computers to connect and share
- information and peripheral devices such as printers, hard drives
- and CD-ROMs.
